Social Action

Social Action initiatives will provide participants with many positive outcomes associated with voluntary work; opportunities to develop a more positive sense of self by giving something back to the community, increase confidence, team working skills and other important life skills. Initiatives will aim to contribute to greater social inclusion whilst at the same time provide direct benefits to the local community.

In June 2015 one of Darlingtons first Social Action initiatives was launched. Four participants gained their Level 2 Food and Hygiene Certificates and alongside colleagues prepared a hearty meal served to the local fire crew and representatives from the local council and voluntary agencies. This was in preparation to run a lunch club delivered to a community beneficiary group. The event was a resounding success, the food delicious and service impeccable. As a direct result of gaining the qualification for this Social Action initiative one of the participants has now secured employment.
